Getting started with DoCircuits


AM, PM and FM

AM Generation using the Function Generator

1.  Connect the function generator output to the Oscilloscope


2.  Select type of waveform as AM using signal selector switch


3.  Observe the parameters related to AM on the LCD Panel , they are as follows;

a.      Carrier Frequency

b.     Carrier Amplitude

c.      Modulating Frequency

d.     Modulating Signal Amplitude

e.     Phase

f.       Modulation Level or Modulation Index

 

4.   Set suitable values of each of the foresaid parameters as shown below

a.  Set carrier frequency to 10 kHz

Use parameter selector switch to select carrier frequency parameter

 

Use Arrow buttons to move the cursor to the desired position on LCD

User Numeric Keys to change the value to 10 kHz

To change the range of frequency, use arrow buttons to move the cursor to the range field

Use knob to change the range or the arrow keys from keyboard.

After changing the range, the LCD panel should look like this

  b.  Set carrier amplitude to 6V 

      Use parameter selector switch to select carrier amplitude parameter.

      Use Arrow buttons to move the cursor to the desired position on LCD. 

      Use Numeric Keys to change the value to 6V

    After doing so the LCD panel should display as shown below.

  c.  Set modulating frequency to 1KHz

d.  Set modulating signal amplitude to 2V

 

e.  Set modulation index to 0.2

 

5.  Click on the Run Simulation button

6.  Double Click on the CRO to Observe the output



 PM Generation using the Function Generator

1.  Connect the function generator output to theOscilloscope

2.  Select type of waveform as PM using waveform selector switch

3.  Observe the parameters related to PM on the LCD Panel , they are as follows;

a.  Carrier Frequency

b.  Carrier Amplitude

c.  Modulating Frequency

d.  Modulating Signal Amplitude

e.  Phase

f.   Modulation Level or Modulation Index

 4.   Set suitable values of each of the aforesaid parameters as shown below

a.  Set carrier frequency to 1KHz

 

b.  Set carrier amplitude to 1V

 

c.   Set modulating frequency to 100 Hz

 

d.  Set modulating signal amplitude to 1V

 

e.  Set phase to 900

 

f.   Set modulation index to 1

5.   Click on the Run Simulation button

6.  Double Click on the CRO to Observe the output

 

 

FM Generation using the Function Generator

1.   Connect the function generator output to the Oscilloscope


2.   Double Click on function generator and turn it ON

3.   Select type of waveform as FM using waveform selector switch

4.   Observe the parameters related to FM on the LCD Panel , they are as follows;

a.  Carrier Frequency

b.  Carrier Amplitude

c.   Modulating Frequency

d.   Modulating Signal Amplitude

e.   Phase

f.    Modulation Level or Modulation Index

 

5.   Set suitable values of each of the aforesaid parameters as shown below

a.   Set carrier frequency to 1kHz

 

b.  Set carrier amplitude to 1V

 

c.  Set modulating frequency to 100 Hz

 

d.  Set modulating signal amplitude to 1V

  e.  Set deviation 1.200 Hz/V

 

6.  Click on the Run Simulation button

7.   Double Click on the CRO to Observe the output
