Overview

An unknown resistance is given and the voltage drop across the other resistor and the supply voltage is given. Using that find the value of the unknown resistance. In each case using Ohm's Law on the unknown resistor find the current flowing in the series circuit. Total voltage is known and using the current value (R=V/I), total resistance can be found, and then the unknown resistance in series with the known resistance.
